Today in the Lighting Lab we flipped the classroom into a working set. Under the guidance of Daniel Horsfall, students experimented with three lighting moods in a single scene — high-contrast noir, warm golden-hour, and cool documentary realism — and learned how a small change in angle or diffusion rewrites a character’s entire inner life.
What we captured:
- A rapid demo on practicals vs. gels — how a single practical lamp becomes an emotional anchor.
- Hands-on time with key grips, diffusion frames and LED panels in our studio.
- Real-time critique: students shot, graded, and presented a 60-second scene in one lab session.
